Reading Information Text (11-12.6)
Determine an
author’s perspective or purpose in a text in which the rhetoric is particularly
useful, analyzing how style and content contribute to the power,
persuasiveness, or beauty of the text.
Let's Practice: Key Terms
Section A: Persuasive Text
A persuasive essay presents an argument
or an opinion by stating that opinion through a topic sentence and then backing
it up with reasons, evidence, and examples. Frequently, these reasons are
presented in the order of their importance from weakest to strongest. That way,
the strongest leaves a lasting impression with the reader. An excellent
persuasive piece also considers the other side of the issue to present a
balanced point of view.
So when it's
time for you to write a persuasive essay, just keep in mind the formula for
success. That you have to introduce your topic by stating your opinion, provide
reasons from weakest to strongest, provide transitions to let your reader know
that you're shifting from one idea to another. And don't forget to present the
other side of the issue for a more balanced view.

the audience. It is an art of effective speaking and writing in which writers
make their opinions believable to the audience through logic, by invoking

To determine whether a writer is credible or not, the audience needs to

Persuasion
is the most common literary technique. We not only find it in literature, but
also in political speeches, conferences, courtrooms, and advertisements.
Through persuasive writing, writers express their feelings and opinions by
appealing to the audience emotionally and rationally. Hence, it is a beneficial
technique to win over the readers or audience. Besides, it helps students to
unearth specific reasons in favor of their points of view and gives them a
chance to research facts linked to their beliefs. While developing an
understanding of how writing can change and influence their thoughts and
actions, you can understand the nature of persuasive work.
